TriM has collaborated with the Comitato Collaborazione Medica (CCM) in the development of the Operational Research Project “Enhance the health status of the Nomadic Pastoralists in Filtu Woreda, Liben Zone (Somali Regional State of Ethiopia)”. The project, founded by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), was a preparatory activity to allow the development of a project proposal that may address human, animal and environment health under the “One Health” approach.
TriM was leading the “GIS & Mapping” component of the OR Project. The aim of this task was collecting, analyzing and visualizing environmental and social data collected on the ground in order to characterize the health resources in the area. Besides data collected in the field, other geospatial data, including satellite information (TRMM, GPM, Landsat 8 and Sentinel), have been managed and integrated into a GIS in order to produce understandable and user-oriented maps that can address a variety of social and environmental issues.
